Hands Together For PD Grover

PD Grover and his Dad Mitch were recently deployed to Kellerberrin as part of a team conducting a search warrant at a property in the area. A quantity of Cannabis, cash and smoking implements were located and seized during the search.

PD Grover and Mitch then headed to Kiwirrkurra (near the NT Border in the North Gibson Desert) where they searched vehicles entering the community.

Whilst there they also attended the local school so the children could meet PD Grover and learn about what he does.

This recent deployment shows the great work our drug detection dogs do all over our vast state.

Armed Robberies Arrest (Gwelup and Innaloo) – Mirrabooka Detectives have charged a man in relation to two armed robbery incidents in Gwelup and Innaloo yesterday afternoon, Friday 29 April 2016.

About 1:15pm a man entered a bottle shop on North Beach Road, Gwelup and picked up a carton of alcoholic drinks. It will be alleged the man tried to leave the store without paying, and when confronted by a staff member he showed the staff member he was armed with a knife and warned the staff member not to try to stop him.

A short time later a person matching the same description entered a bottle shop on Ellen Stirling Boulevard, Innaloo and picked up a carton of alcoholic drinks. It will be alleged the man tried to leave the store without paying, and when confronted by a staff member he showed the staff member he was armed with a knife.

Detective First Class Constable Karen HIGGS from Mirrabooka Detectives said a man was arrested as a result of information obtained from the public.

“After the incident in Innaloo a customer at the shop noted the details of a vehicle the offender left the scene in. Acting on that information a search warrant was executed in Clarkson and a 20 year old man was arrested, and items of interest to the investigation were seized.

“Unfortunately the member of the public left the shop and didn’t leave their details. We would be very interested to speak to that person and we ask that they come forward and contact us.” Detective HIGGS added.

WA Police Response Regarding Macro Investigation

WA Police – Macro Investigation

Please find below a WA Police response to recent media reports regarding the Macro investigation, which is our Special Crime Squad’s investigation into the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon, and the disappearance of Sarah Spiers in 1996 and 1997.

“Speculation about operational lines of inquiry with regards to the Macro investigation has the potential to damage the investigation, impact negatively on any future prosecutions and to further traumatise the families of the victims. A major investigation such as this cannot be an ‘open book’, and operational outcomes must be prioritised over media interest.

“Maintaining the operational integrity of this investigation is paramount if we are to bring the offender, or offenders, to justice. It is WA Police policy not to comment about the Macro investigation. However on this occasion police would like to correct reports that number plates captured on video in Claremont on March 14, 1997, were not checked – that is inaccurate.

“WA Police is committed to solving these crimes and has a dedicated team of detectives within the Special Crime Squad utilising the latest investigative techniques and technologies to identify the offender, or offenders.”
