Midland/Bayswater Incidents Arrest

(Police Dog Mako – long post)

Bayswater Local Policing Team officers have charged a 19 year old man in relation to a number of incidents in Bayswater last night, Thursday 20 August 2015.
About 9:35 last night, Thursday 20 August 2015, Police were called to a residence in Midland in relation to a man breaching a 72 Hour Police Order he had been issued earlier in the day. Upon police arrival the man had left the address.
About 10:05pm a man was driving through Midland when he stopped his vehicle along Great Eastern Highway to change the radio station he was listening to. Whilst stopped, a man entered the vehicle and demanded to be driven away from Midland, and be taken to the Bayswater Train Station. It will be alleged during the trip to the train station the offender made sexual advances towards to victim and indecently assaulted him twice.
As the vehicle got close to the Bayswater Train Station the victim stopped the car, and ran from the scene to seek assistance.
About 11:05pm Police were called regarding an incident at a residence in Burnside Street, Bayswater. The resident had someone knocking on his door, advising him someone was trying to steal his car. The resident refused to open the door, and the man smashed a window, before running to a neighbouring property, where he climbed onto the roof and fled the scene when the occupant of the house confronted him.
About 11:10pm a man knocked on the door of a residence in Coode Street, asking the female occupant to let him in as he had just been robbed. The woman refused to let him and closed the door, at which time the power to her house was disconnected. She immediately phoned Police.
About 11:15pm a man forced his way into the rear of a neighbouring property on Coode Street. The male resident was alerted to this and phoned Police.
Several police units had been deployed to the area and conducted patrols of the streets to locate the offender.
Police Dog Mako was deployed from the last known address the man was seen at, and tracked a scent to nearby Copley Street. A man was located on Copley Street, carrying a garden rake. PD Mako’s Handler challenged the man, who was then taken into custody without incident.
A 19 year old man from Midland has been charged with:
– Deprivation of Liberty
– 2 x Aggravated Indecent Assault
– Steal Motor Vehicle
– Aggravated Burglary
– 2 x Stealing
– 2 x Trespass
– Criminal Damage
He was refused bail and will appear in the Midland Magistrates Court today, Friday 21 August 2015.
