Sex Assault Squad detectives have charged an 18 year old man in relation to an incident near the West Leederville train station on Friday 18 December 2015.
As a result of their investigation and information received from members of the public, the man has been charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault and Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm.
It will be alleged the man approached a 60 year old woman who was walking along the footpath towards Subiaco after leaving the train station.
The man pushed her to the ground and indecently assaulted her.
The man was disturbed by a passer-by and he fled the area on foot.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 6 January 2016.
Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Beard, Officer in Charge of the Sex Assault Squad expressed his thanks to the many WA Police Facebook Investigators (the FBI) who have provided information.
“This information led to the identification of two people police wished to speak to in relation to two separate indecent assaults on women,” Senior Sergeant Beard said.
“These types of incidents are difficult matters to investigate, particularly when the offender is not known to the victim and without the support of the Police Facebook followers these investigations can sometimes remain unresolved. Thankfully in this case, as with others in the past, your support helped bring them to a successful conclusion.
“Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated, keep up the great work.”
