A Message From South West District – WA Police

Thank you but its not over yet
South West Police asked you to be a safe driver this Easter and we would take care of those who put us all at risk. You have been doing your part and we have been doing ours.
We ask you to be even more careful today as the weekend finishes. We expect the traffic to be very thick, especially between Busselton and Capel and around the greater Bunbury area.
Prepare for extra travel time or even break your trip up by stopping in one of our beautiful towns and cities. Enjoy some of the best food and coffee in the state or do some shopping. The shops are open through out the south west, including supermarkets and department stores.
We have plenty of vehicles and other resources out there to help keep you safe. If you see someone putting others at risk ring 131 444 and provide the registration. We will follow it up from there.
Drive safe. ‪#‎headsup‬

Distracted Driving – Mobile Phones

There has been some media coverage today about a device that can block mobile phone calls and messages in vehicles.
You can do it now for free by remembering these three steps –
CHECKcheck your phone before you leave the driveway or parking spot. Send your texts and make you calls before you leave
STOW – turn you phone to silent, do not disturb mode or off and place it in the glovebox or boot.
GO drive away safely knowing that you won’t be tempted by that phone tone.
Some people think they can drive and use a phone at the same time because they have never had a crash. If you have used your phone whilst driving think of the time you nearly hit a kerb or drifted onto the shoulder or had to brake suddenly for something in front of you or can’t remember what happened on the road for the last few seconds. They are crashes you should have had but luck doesn’t hold out forever.
So remember CHECK, STOW, GO.
