The State Crime Operations Squad has charged a 42 year old man with numerous offences relating to the sexual assault of a 13 year old girl in 1994.
It will be alleged the man was armed with a pistol and wore a disguise when he broke into a home in Geraldton on November 3, 1994, where two girls aged 15 and 13 were alone. The man allegedly threatened both of the girls and dragged the 13 year old by her hair from the house to nearby bushland where she was subjected to multiple sexual assaults.
The man was interviewed by Detectives attached to the State Crime Operations Squad on Thursday, 18 February, 2016, and charged with the following offences;
• Five counts of Aggravated Sexual Penetration (Child Between 13 and 16 Years)
• One count of Deprivation of Liberty
• One count of Aggravated Indecent Dealing
• One count of Aggravated Burglary and Commit Offence
He will appear in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
The arrest came as a result of a review of the case by State Crime Operations Squad, which is tasked with conducting cold case reviews of unsolved historic serious offences utilising the latest advancements in forensic technology and modern investigative techniques.
